Choosing the board size

In addition of themes, Four Winds offers several different board sizes and layouts.

Basic Boards A to D (640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280/1200x800/768/720 pixels) display discards in separate view and use several pop-up windows (e.g., the Wall window, Game Manager window, Dora Tiles window, Discards window and Available Tiles window) to display additional game information. By using the menu option Integrated Game Info Views on the View menu, the same information is shown  in alternating internal views, which can be invoked by swiping down from the top, choosing Game Info View on the Options menu (shortcut Crl+E), and then switching between the views in horizontal direction. The feature is especially useful in small devices like small tablets and mobile phones. The Game Info View also allows access to Save, Scores and Suggest buttons.

Integrated Boards A to M (1024x768, 1080x720 or 1128x752, 1280x1024, 1280/1200x800/768/720, 1360/6x768 or 1366x780, 1368x912, 1440x900, 1500x1000, 1600x900, 1600x1200, 1680x1050, 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 pixels) use an integrated layout, where all game information is displayed in one view divided in panes and child windows which are always visible and cannot be moved.

Integrated Square N to Y (1024x768, 1080x720 or 1128x752, 1280/1200x800/768/720, 1360/6x768 or 1366x780, 1368x912, 1440x900, 1500x1000, 1600x900, 1600x1200, 1680x1050, 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 pixels) use an integrated layout with square game board, simulating the real world game where players are seated on four sides opposite of each other.

To choose the board size:

  1. Click the View menu to open it.
  2. Click Game Boards and choose the desired board size using the menu options.

Note: The available options depend on the current screen resolution.

Tip:  When using integrated game boards, you can toggle the visibility of the panel on the left of the game board by choosing Hide Game Information Panel on the View menu of Four Winds (or by pressing Ctrl + I). The feature is available only if there is room for the increased window height (the game board will be moved under the menu bar so the window height will be increased by the height of the menu).
