To specify the time a discarded tile stays visible (and available for claiming) in the discard slot:
Note: You can always bypass the delay by clicking anywhere on the game board. By doing so you express that you do not want the tile. In a non-multiplayer game this results in immediate action: if any of the computer players claims the tile, he starts melding of the set, or if no one wants the tile, the next player in turn receives a new tile from the Wall. In a networked game players can accelerate the pace of the game by making an agreement that all players click the game board immediately they know they don't want a discarded tile.
Tip: You can force a discarded tile to stay visible in the discard slot for as long time as you wish by setting the value of discard delay to zero. In this case you must advance the turns manually by clicking the game board or pressing Enter (note that keyboard and mouse operations can be customized so the actual operations needed may vary).
